Lloyd’s Register
We started out in 1760 as a marine classi cation society. Today, we’re one of the world’s leading providers of professional services for engineering and technology in over 75 countries.
The pro ts we generate fund the Lloyd’s Register Foundation, a charity which supports science and engineering-related research, education and public engagement around everything we do.
We provide classi cation, compliance and consultancy services to the marine and offshore industry, helping our clients design, construct and operate their assets to the highest levels of safety and performance with our long-standing reputation for integrity, impartiality and technical excellence.
In a world of increasing complexity – overloaded with data and opinion – we know that our clients need more than technology to succeed. They need an experienced hand, a partner to listen, cut through the noise and focus on what really matters to them and their customers. Our engineers and technical experts are dedicated to assurance. That means a commitment to embracing new technology, and a deep-rooted desire to drive better performance. So, we consider our customers’ needs with diligence and empathy, then use our expertise and over 250 years’ experience to deliver the smart solution for everyone.
After all, there are some things technology can’t replace.
UK Ship Register
The team at the UK Ship Register, together with colleagues in the wider Maritime & Coastguard Agency, are committed to building on the UK Flags foundations for quality and safety to bring you a modern, customer-focused ag with a range of advantages.
Customers already have peace of mind with access to our world-class surveyors, support and technical expertise, and policy know how. Moving forwards, they will also bene t from personalised round-the-clock support, with digital services and better access to surveyors across the globe. We’re also working on plans to offer improved scal incentives.
We are committed to listening and responding to industry. In March 2019, eligibility was expanded so that even more operators can join the UK Flag. The criteria has been widened beyond the current areas of the UK and Europe to include Commonwealth countries and 20 other countries. The UK Flag is an International Register (not limited to nationally-based companies).
Earlier this year, we also introduced a system for bareboat charter-out, so that our customers can temporarily re ag ships for the period of a charter-party before returning to the UK ag when that agreement ends.
We’re looking forward to working much more closely with our customers and industry, creating long term sustainable partnerships and growing the UK Flag.
The UK Ship Register is part of the Maritime & Coastguard Agency, an executive agency of the UK Department for Transport.
