LONDON
CALLING
The spectacular LISW19 Gala Reception and Dinner, whose 1,031 guests lled the stunning Great Room at the Grosvenor House Hotel, creating a new record, was again the glittering highlight of the week.
After a rousing introduction, courtesy of maritime lawyer Julian Clarke and his band who blasted out four iconic London-themed numbers – London’s Calling, Werewolves of London, Sultans of Swing and Lola – the speeches began.
First up, Sean Moloney, co-founder and owner of
LISW with Llewellyn Bankes-Hughes, thanked industry, government, sponsors, the Board of Advisors, the Steering Group and the amazing hard-working team at Shipping Innovation. Maritime Minister, Nusrat Ghani MP, rejoiced in the huge success of the week, after having attended dozens of the week’s events.
The Rt Hon. Grant Shapps MP, Secretary of State for Transport, praised LISW19 and spoke passionately about shipping, maritime and, almost inevitably, about Brexit.
A ne rendition of West End production Phantom of the Opera provided a glamourous nale to the LISW Gala Dinner 2019.
