The Department for Transport (DfT) maritime trade policy team hosted two trade policy workshops, aimed at domestic and international stakeholders respectively. In the domestic workshop the DfT updated stakeholders on its work on Free Trade Agreements, as well as its future negotiating positions with the US, New Zealand and Australia, before asking speci c questions to feed into this work. The workshop was a success with several noteworthy issues raised and the DfT is now in the process of organising future engagements. In the international workshop it aimed to provoke discussion based upon several trade policy questions relating to global maritime issues, UK barriers to trade and the value of Free Trade Agreements as facilitators of trade. This was the start of the conversation and was a good opportunity to establish relationships with the DfT’s international counterparts and understand the perspectives
of different countries with regards to establishing a future trading relationship with the UK.
