RFA Lyme Bay hosted a Humanitarian Aid & Disaster Relief Event,
with ministerial attendance from the Foreign and Commonwealth
Of ce (FCO). Around 90 staff from the Department for International Development and FCO focussed on disaster preparedness and response in the UK Overseas Territories. Several the crew from RFA Mounts Bay who responded to the two hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017 were in attendance to discuss what they did and how they did it, along with an exhibition of photos and videos of the operation, which included a ship tour. This event allowed government delegates to better understand how a ship operates and how it delivers what HM Government funds in this area. Signi cant information exchange took place which will allow HM Government to better plan and for the Ministry of Defence / Royal Navy / Royal Fleet Auxiliary to deliver against the demand by re ning our tactics, techniques and practices.
