Catherine is a shipping professional and commercial leader who works to develop and attract talented people into an inclusive business environment. She has worked within Shipping and Trading businesses for Shell and BP, across oil, gas and chemicals markets. She is a strong advocate for achieving gender balance in those industries. She is currently GM for Global Operations Commercial Services, within Shell Trading.
Catherine has held General Manager positions for Shell in Trading Operations, Shipping & Maritime and Shell Chemicals. She has been responsible for the long-term direction of Shell’s maritime activities; promoting safer, cleaner and more efficient shipping, with a particular focus on the decarbonisation of this sector. Catherine led the commercial aspects of Shell’s LNG shipping; LNG carriers, small scale LNG bunkering and regasification projects. Shell is the largest shipper of LNG in the world, working towards ‘powering progress together by providing more and cleaner energy solutions’.
She joined Shell in 2012 as the GM Marine for Chemicals, responsible for the global shipping of all Shell’s Chemical products.
Prior to Shell, Catherine worked at BP for 15 years, including leading Freight Trading in Europe/Africa and Asia/Middle East. Her work has given her experience in Europe, US and Asia; she was based in Singapore from 2008 to 2017.
Catherine is from the UK and studied Modern History at Oxford University. She and her family enjoy many sports and seeking out new adventures.
