Denis Petropoulos has worked in competitive shipbroking for over 40 years starting in H.Clarkson in 1978. He left in 1985 and opened Braemar Tankers Ltd as a founding member. In 2001 Braemar was publicly listed on the London Stock Exchange as Braemar Shipping Services PLC where he sat on the board. The company underwent significant international expansion and he was responsible for opening the groups offices in China, India, Dubai, USA and Singapore to where he relocated in 2011 and headed the Asian divisions. He retired from Braemar in 2018 and was appointed Chairman of Baltic Exchange in 2019.
His knowledge of the energy industry and in particular its shipping requirement for crude oils, products, chemicals, LPG and LNG extends to all the supply and refinery centres around the world. He has dealt with the worlds largest ship owners, both in the sales and purchase of vessels including with shipyards, as well as long term project contracts.
Denis Petropoulos is a non-exec main board director of TEN – Tsakos Energy Navigation – publicly listed on the NYSE.
