Chairman of Fraser, Roberto Giorgi began his career at sea; attending Nautical College and joining the Italian Navy as a Lieutenant. Following his service, Roberto joined the merchant marine where he worked in passenger liners and cargo vessels, obtaining his Master Mariner qualification in 1974.
In 1980 Roberto left the call of the sea and joined Amarline as a ship manager-his first shore-based role in Monaco. After growing his experience in the company over a period of several years, Roberto joined the newly founded company V.Ships in 1984. Through Roberto’s various positions in V.Ships over forty years, including President from 2005 – 2013 he was instrumental in helping the company grow to its current position as the world’s largest ship management company. Roberto retired as Honorary President in 2015.
Roberto was also President of InterManager from 2008-2010, the international trade association for third-party and in-house ship managers, whose members are responsible for some 3,700 ships and more than 200,000 crew members.
In August 2014 Roberto became the Executive Chairman of Fraser, a company that he had been involved with since V.Ships acquired it in a joint partnership with Azimut Benetti in 2004. Here his expertise and lifetime experience in the industry has enabled him to assist in the growth of Fraser, cementing its position as the world’s leading yacht brokerage company.
Following the appointment of Raphael Sauleau as CEO of Fraser by Roberto and the board of Directors in February 2016, Roberto continues in his role as the Chairman of the company, dedicating his time to strengthening the management team and focusing on issues within the yachting industry.
