The Bahamas Shipowners’ Association (BSA) encompasses all shipping sectors and promotes the interests of owners of Bahamian registered vessels and facilitates consultation with the Bahamas Maritime Authority (BMA). The BSA offers owners the opportunity to be proactive in topical industry issues, including discussing prospective international policy changes, and to meet with international bodies such as: IMO; EU; USCG; and to lobby on behalf of Bahamas flagged vessels. BSA is also represented on the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) Board and Committees.
The next meeting of the BSA Board of Directors will be held on Monday 7th September 2015, at the beginning of London International Shipping Week, and new Chairman, John Adams, will put forward a progressive agenda, highlighting the benefits for Members. The agenda will include:
- Strategic Direction & Objectives;
- BSA Structure – Board & Secretariat;
- BSA Focus Areas & Services;
- ICS Sub-Committees & IMO;
- BMA Consultation – Trends/Conventions/Legislation;
- BSA Cadet Strategy;
- BSA Budget & Fee Structure
BSA will also host an Evening Reception to interact with Members in an informal setting – to share Board meeting outcomes, and more importantly, to provide an opportunity to receive directly the views of Owners/Members. Representatives of the BMA will also be in attendance.
The BSA Evening Reception will follow the Board meeting from 18:00 – 21:00 also at Founder’s Hall.
