It is our pleasure to invite you to join Arup, in collaboration with the London International Shipping Week, to a workshop exploring the Future of Ports.
The aim of the event is to collaboratively explore the future opportunities and challenges faced by UK ports, and the need to renovate existing infrastructure to keep pace with a changing industry.
Arup has launched an initiative that focusses on the future of ports. Join us in the first of a series of workshops that will contribute to the production of a publication, similar to recently published thought pieces on the future of Rail and Highways.
The initiative aims to stimulate debate, encourage thought leadership in the maritime industry and help in the development of supportive public policy.
A series of short thought-provoking presentations will be followed by a mini-workshop exploring the drivers of change in our industry, challenging us to delve further into future insight and its implications for port investment and operations.
Themes that will be addressed include: obsolescence of technology and conversely the rapid rise of new technology; changing regulatory landscape in relation to climate change and the marine environment; increase in vessel size and the impact of the energy mix policy.
The event will close with an opportunity to network over drinks.
