Enjoy a full English Breakfast and learn all about the ISWAN International Port Welfare Partnership Programme (IPWP), which will be formally launched at this event. This will then be followed by a Panel Debate, hosted by the LISW17 beneficiary charities, addressing the question of: ‘Fair Shipping – does it exist?’ The ISWAN IPWP programme is designed to help create seafarers’ welfare boards at national, regional and local levels under the auspices of ILO MLC, 2006. Seafarers’ welfare boards aka Port Welfare Committees bring the maritime community together to improve access to welfare facilities and support the provision of seafarers’ welfare services in ports, worldwide. The IPWP programme is sponsored by the TK Foundation, Seafarers’ UK, ITF Seafarers’ Trust and Merchant Navy Welfare Board. The LISW17 beneficiary charities are: Apostleship of the Sea, Mission to Seafarers, Sailors’ Society and Seafarers UK.
Both the launch of the ISWAN IPWP programme and the maritime charities debate form one single, by invitation only event.
