Lloyd’s Register will host a panel discussion on zero carbon financing during London International Shipping week on September. The invite-only event will explore the role that ship finance can play in decarbonisation and follows the recent launch of the Poseidon Principles, which will put climate change decisions at the heart of ship lending. Moderated by Peter Goodfellow, formerly of Glencore, this question and answers session will bring together maritime leaders from ship finance, ship owning and chartering to debate whether initiatives that integrate climate change consideration into lending decisions will go far enough to influence shipowner and charterer behaviour. The discussion will also explore how changing funding criteria could affect other maritime stakeholders – notably ports and insurance.
