International maritime law specialist Hill Dickinson is once again confirmed as a platinum sponsor of London International Shipping Week 2021 (LISW21).
In confirming its support of LISW21, the firm, which has a significant London presence as well as international offices in some of the world’s leading maritime hubs, will be prominently featured during the week-long premier global shipping event, which will be held during the week of 13-17 September 2021.
, head of Hill Dickinson’s Marine and Trade group
, said: “As a leading maritime law firm with strong, 200-year old roots in the maritime world, we are delighted to show our ongoing commitment to the shipping industry. With visitor numbers expected to surpass the 20,000 who attended last year, we look forward to connecting with both current and prospective clients.”
The 12-month countdown to what promises to be the largest and most important London International Shipping Week to date, started on 13 October 2020 with the virtual launch of the event that brought together HRH The Princess Royal, as well as political figures and industry leaders from the UK, Singapore and Hong Kong.
Over 800 delegates attending the launch were told that LISW21 will progress on its charge of propelling world trade with an exploration of its overarching theme of ‘Driving growth and recovery in a disrupted world’.
While COVID-19 has created worldwide disruption it is only one of many challenges already facing a global shipping industry in flux. LISW21 will explore how the shipping industry can balance its post-COVID recovery against the mounting pressures and opportunities of deglobalisation, decarbonisation, and digitalisation, for the agile, sustainable progression of international trade.
For the first time, the biennial maritime event will include both face-to-face and virtual events throughout the five days, and this year promises to exceed the 220 events held during LISW19.
, chairman of the LISW21 board of advisers, told the launch event: “By including a strong virtual element to what will also be a face-to-face event, it means that we can open up LISW21 and its myriad of excellent industry events to the younger generation joining or wishing to join this fabulous industry. These are young people who, because of the COVID pandemic, may have missed out on much needed office-based mentoring. We will be welcoming them on board during the week.
“London is a major international maritime centre and the role it plays internationally in making shipping and trade work cannot be understated. Which is why we are delighted we have forged the type of strong relationship we have with Her Majesty’s government, as well as other international governments and regulators and the international and UK domestic maritime industries.”
