Preparations for London International Shipping Week (LISW) are taking shape for silver sponsor Hill Dickinson.
The internationally respected law firm is hosting two seminars; one will concentrate on the handling of disputes and non-contentious matters which arise from the international sale of commodities and the other will focus on the appropriate legal responses to major shipping, offshore and land-based casualties, disasters and emergencies.
This seminar on large scale casualties is particularly relevant for ship owners and ship managers in light of the spate of recent accidents between Christmas and the New Year. While these two groups are well versed in risk management especially in the mandatory application of the International Safety Management Code, little thought is given to managing litigation risk.
The Hill Dickinson seminar will demonstrate how failure to manage the litigation process appropriately may not only result in greater exposure to loss than would otherwise have been the case but, in some instances, losing a case that would otherwise have been won.
Commenting on Hill Dickinson’s support of LSIW, Partner and Master Mariner Ian MacLean said: “We feel that our presence at LISW is vital to reinforcing our unparalleled reputation, experience and knowledge of the marine industry with key delegates.”
