Nigel is a barrister and King’s Counsel practising predominantly in the fields of shipping, energy, offshore and marine construction and insurance from Quadrant Chambers in London. Described recently as “just brilliant on his feet. Also very good with clients, down to earth and easy to engage with”, Nigel has been ranked as a ‘leading silk’ in the directories for many years both for the UK and globally.
His work covers the full range of shipping disputes as well as cases arising out of current issues in the market such as sanctions and decarbonisation. Alongside, his commercial practice, Nigel is recognised for his expertise in disputes relating to the construction, sale and operation of superyachts.
After spending some time studying and working in Europe, he joined Quadrant Chambers (then 2 Essex Court) in October 1990. Nigel took silk in 2010 and was appointed a deputy High Court Judge in October 2021. He also sits as an arbitrator.
