Having studied Maritime Business with Maritime Law at Plymouth University, Stanko Jekov started his career at Simpson Spence Young (SSY) – the world’s largest independent shipbroker, in 2002. Initially focusing on the Handysize and Supramax bulker market, he became a partner in the business at the age of 28 before assuming the role of Global Head of Dry Cargo in 2016. Since taking on the role of Managing Partner in 2023, he has continued to expand SSY’s reach into new markets and locations, in addition to his on-going responsibilities for the company’s Dry Cargo business.
