WORKING TO A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE
By Bob Sanguinetti
Chief Executive Of cer, UK Chamber of Shipping
London International Shipping Week is the premier shipping event in the world. It brings together the leading players from across the industry to discuss and debate the major issues
facing the sector.
London is an interna onal mari me hub and provides a unique backdrop for hundreds of mee ngs, events, panel discussions and the Gala Dinner, which are all taking place across the city. London will be a great host but I am also delighted to see many more events will take place around the country.
The Chamber will be running some great events during the week focusing on two key areas for shipping: decarbonisa on and trade.
On the Monday evening we will be launching our news and current a airs style TV programme, ‘Making Waves: The Future of Shipping’. This will tell the story of the industry’s transforma ve journey to a sustainable future. The launch event
will take place at the IMO and will be a joint event with the Bri sh Ports Associa on who will be launching their very own lm ‘Gateways to Growth’.
On the Tuesday morning we will be hos ng our ‘Mari me Trade Global Britain’ event at 30 Park Street which will focus on how modern Free Trade Agreements will bene t the UK and its trading partners.
And on the Thursday, again at 30 Park Street, we will be hos ng our ‘Voyage to decarbonisa on’ event which will discuss how shipping companies can navigate the most disrup ve period in shipping history and head toward a sustainable low carbon future. We are delighted that the Shipping Minister Robert Courts, who will be incredibly busy during the week, will be in a endance and will open the event.
Through our events, and the wider programme, we hope to showcase all that is great about the Chamber of Shipping and the wider UK shipping sector. n
