The organisers of London International Shipping Week are delighted to announce that MLA College has signed up as a Silver Sponsor of next year’s event, LISW23.
MLA College is an established distance-learning higher education provider, specialising in degree programmes for the marine and maritime industry. Awarded by the University of Plymouth, it offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes (both online and offline) in sustainable maritime operations for seafarers (deck & engineer), meteorology, oceanography, hydrography, navigation and engineering for marine professionals.
In addition, students can opt for a master’s degree in Business Administration (top up) which takes in a variety of subjects including maritime operations, capital markets and finance, marketing, financial technology (FinTech), and entrepreneurship and innovation. The college has also recently launched its Global Sustainable Development programmes that see students actively contributing to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Announcing the MLA College’s support of LISW23, Professor Basak Akdemir, CEO, said: “We are delighted to be part of the 10th Anniversary of LISW. MLA College has expanded its sustainable maritime offering greatly in recent years and we look forward to supporting LISW as one of the most important international shipping and maritime events in the world. Through being a silver sponsor, we intend to demonstrate that sustainability, and the progression of it within the industry, is not confined to technical innovations; it’s about people, education and knowledge.”
Professor John Chudley, Rector of MLA College, added: “In my various roles within education and training I have always valued attendance at London International Shipping Week. The realisation that people are at the heart of maritime and shipping helped MLA College to develop and commit to delivering outstanding flexible education and training.”
Sean Moloney, Director of Shipping Innovation, owners and managers of LISW, welcomed MLA as a first-time sponsor of the event: “Educating the next generation of mariners is crucial and MLA College is playing a vital role in achieving just that, particularly with its expanded sustainability offering. We are delighted that MLA will be taking part in LISW23,” he added.
LISW23 will be held during the week of September 11-15, 2023 and will play host to the maritime world with hundreds of events attracting thousands of international industry decision makers into London during the week. The headline LISW23 Conference will be held on Wednesday September 13th while the LISW23 Gala Dinner will be held on Thursday September 14th.
