Shipowners Issues Passenger Liability Regulation Update

Maritime London member the Shipowners Club has produced a briefing note about the Passenger Liability Regulation (PLR), which became compulsory on 31 December 2018, for all Class B passenger ships carrying out domestic voyages in all EU and EEA member states.

The PLR implements the Athens Convention and the 2002 Protocol in EU member states, with the purpose of creating a single set of rules across the EU member states governing the liability of carriers to passengers travelling by sea in the event of an accident. The Club’s article provides more information about the PLR and the type of passenger vessels it covers.
