NIMASA is a parastatal under the federal ministry of transport with responsibility for the implementation of the provisions of the NIMASA Act 2007, Cabotage Act 2003, Merchant Shipping Act 2007, and its various amendments.
NIMASA also takes responsibility for other federal legislation on maritime labour, safety and security.
NIMASA is the apex regulatory and promotional maritime agency in Nigeria.
