The Scottish Maritime Cluster provides a platform for the constituent elements of the maritime sector in Scotland. It encourages the relevant supply chain elements to move away from operating within individual silos and share common problems and opportunities with others in the sector.
Scotland is home to one of the UK’s largest clusters of maritime businesses which include Europe’s largest ship management cluster, world class naval ship design, build and support, internationally recognised expertise in support to offshore energy operations, Europe’s leading nautical training and personnel capability, leading maritime universities and academics combined with a full range of professional support services.
It provides a ‘shop window’ for the sector in global markets, explores opportunities for joint working and addresses skills, policy and other mutual challenges.
The cluster seeks to build on strong and globally recognised experience emphasising engineering, innovation and people.
To date the cluster has over 30 members and as many more have expressed a positive interest in joining. The cluster has also recently engaged its first dedicated member of staff and has exciting plans for the future.
